A local singer from Seven Persons has made
the Canadian Idol cut.
Nineteen-year-old Amberly Thiessen was
presented with the chance of a lifetime, a gold ticket to Toronto,
during the Montreal auditions this month.
Thiessen and her family were unable to
make comment to the News this week due to Canadian Idol
regulations.
The singer-songwriter has already garnered
fan attention from friends and family and a Facebook group has been
started in honour of her Canadian Idol run.
The group is called "Amberly Thiessen for
the 2008 Canadian Idol!"
Thiessen also has profile on the
networking site, MySpace, which features sound bites of her singing
with the accompaniment of her acoustic guitar.
Fans can check out her MySpace page at
www.myspace.com/amberlylydda.
Her bio on MySpace says she spent time
last summer in New York playing open mics and other small gigs.
On her website she talks about her dreams
of becoming a full-time musician.
"A small town girl who loves the big city,
I grew up on the prairies of Alberta! I've been singing my whole
life and plan to pursue a career in music...I feel like I have
found my niche and am really excited about my future as a
musician."
