Betty Jean Richards passed away in Sechelt, B.C., August 9, 2008, at the age of 74. Predeceased by her loving parents Beatrice and Archibald Wills and dear husband Ted Richards. Survived by her daughter Brenda; son Scott (Lorraine) Owens; brother Doug (Fran), Roger (Katherine) and Bob; sister-in-law Ann Richards, nieces and nephews.

MELBA DEERING
1925 ~ 2008

Mrs. Melba Deering, beloved wife of the late Mr. Herbert Peter Deering, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the age of 82 years. Melba leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Barry (Edna) Deering and family, Tobi (Cameron) Kemp, and Randall (Susan) Deering and daughters, Kathy and Mandy. She is also survived by a brother, Ray (Emma) Yanke and his family; a sister, Linda (Larry) Weiss and her family; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Deering, Nellie Deering and Rosa Lehr as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Christof and Pauline Yanke; a son, Darrell and most of her in-laws. Melba, or Nana as she was affectionately called, loved and excelled in her role as a grandmother. She was extremely proficient in house design and construction, sewing, embroidery, hardinger, quilting, gardening, cooking, baking and she dabbled in drawing and painting. She will be remembered by many friends and acquaintances as the friendly, efficient cashier at the Co-op Store. A Commemorative Ceremony in Melba’s honour, will be held at the Elks Lodge, 305 - 3rd Street N.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Diane Beach officiating. Nana will be laid to rest beside her husband at a private family interment at Hillside Cemetery earlier this day. THOMAS HALLWORTH
1920 ~ 2008

Mr. Thomas (Tom) Hallworth, beloved husband of Mrs. Hilda Hallworth of Medicine Hat, passed away at the Sunnyview Care Center on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Tom was born in Medicine Hat on July 13, 1920, a son to James and Janet Hallworth. As a young man, he was a fireman and set his sights on a pretty young lady that caught his attention walking past the firehouse. He married her on September 20, 1944 and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. He served his country in the Royal Canadian Forces and was a member of the Southern Alberta Regiment. Tom was a man with great pride and it reflected in his work and life. He was well respected as a business man in operating his own company, T. Hallworth Plumbing & Heating. He also served as a government gas inspector. He enjoyed the company of people and will be remembered for his backyard BBQ’s with family and friends. Tom also enjoyed playing golf and loved to kick up is heels and dance. His passion for family will be remembered by his wife, Hilda; three children, Sharon (Lorne) Turnbull, Jim (Rae) Hallworth and granddaughters, Kaitlyn (Nik), Allyson (Kyle) and Jillian; and
Suellen Hallworth (Del); and a sister-in-law, Winnie Davidson. Tom was predeceased by his parents, James and Janet; a brother, James Hallworth; two sisters, Lillian Hallworth and Janet Simpson; a grandson, Kevin Jetter; son-in-law, George Jetter and two brothers-in-law, Roy Davidson and Robert Simpson. A Celebration of Tom’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, (901 - 13th Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ronda Ploughman officiating. Private family interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. TRAINER

MOLLIE TRAINER passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2008 three weeks before her 88th birthday. Mollie spent her life in Southeastern Alberta, growing up in New Home, Alberta, moving to the Dominion Range Experimental Farm at One Four and then on to Lethbridge where she made her home for the last 45 years.
She was predeceased in 2003 by her faithful, loving husband of 65 years Robert "Bob" Trainer. Their door was always open and many came to enjoy Mom’s "good cooking" and generous hospitality. Mom was a woman ahead of her time and was delighted when they finally put parliamentary proceedings on television.
Mollie is survived by her only remaining sister Hilda Johnson of Medicine Hat, five children Bev, Verna (Ross), Bruce (Debbie), Norman (Marie), Valerie (Don); eleven grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren, all who knew they were always loved.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, on Thursday, August 21, 2008, at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 St., S., Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Richard Brown officiating. Interment to follow in the Saamis Prairie View Cemetery, Medicine Hat, Alberta.

WALKER - RONALD JESSLE

Mr. Ronald Walker of Medicine Hat passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 12th, 2008 at the age of 67 years. Ronald leaves to cherish his memory four children: Wanda (Albert) Duriez of Medicine Hat; Vince Walker of Medicine Hat, and his children, Tamara and her daughter, Veronika, and Amanda; Alanna (Richard) Dunn of Red Deer and their children, Michael, Aric and Payton; and Ron Walker of Medicine Hat; Ron's mother, Julie Romat; and a special friend, Sharon McCready and her son, Josh. Ronald was predeceased by his parents, William and Mehta Walker; and by Vince’s, Wanda's and Alanna's mother, Irene Walker. Ronald was born on June 25th, 1941. He was raised and educated in Hilda, moving with this family to Medicine Hat in 1957. He began his work career as a milkman and then was employed by the City of Medicine Hat - first with the Gas Department and later the Fire Department. He retired in the late 1990's. While employed with the city, he operated his own backhoe business. Ron loved sports - he coached the Assiniboia Inn Ladies’ Fastball, Dallas Devils from 1978 to 1991 and minor hockey leagues. Ron's interests included going to Tiger hockey games, watching hockey on television, fishing, playing pool in the Medicine Hat Pool League, volunteering at Golden Sheaf Park and spending time with family and friends. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, on Monday, August 18th, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Blaine Schaufele officiating.
