Gas City Rollers being formed in Medicine Hat Print E-mail

Medicine Hat News

Medicine Hat is currently in the process of forming the first all-girl roller derby league, the Gas City Rollers.

Formed by Kim Dick (aka Guns N' Bruises) and Jennifer Withers (aka Dollface DeVille) the first meeting of the minds will take place this Thursday, Sept. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the upstairs lounge at the Silver Buckle.

"This meeting is for anybody interested in getting involved in the Gas City Rollers," said Dick. "Skaters, referees, coaches, male cheerleaders, you name it ... if you want to get involved, I encourage you to come to the first meeting."

All girls looking to skate in the league must be 18-plus, in good physical condition and have the desire to learn how to roller skate.

Information on how to get involved and where to purchase your gear will be available at the meeting.

Currently, the league is looking for a place to call home, a facility in which the roller derby gals could practise.

For more information, contact Kim Dick by phone 403-928-6722 or by e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

The Gas City Rollers has a Facebook group online as well. All interested parties should join for information, meeting times and updates on the league.
