All fashion, home and apparel, works a season ahead. For example,
two weeks ago all in the know with respect to apparel fashion where
in New York city to see what designers had in store for us for next
Spring. Its funny because in the real world we have just begun
worrying about winter and well here we are looking forward to
spring.

example, two weeks ago all in the know with respect to apparel
fashion where in New York city to see what designers had in store
for us for next Spring. Its funny because in the real world we have
just begun worrying about winter and well here we are looking
forward to spring.
Home fashion works the same way, late
summer and fall Furniture and accessories shows are designed to
show off merchandise that will not appear in stores for another six
monthes. The good news is that this gives us a heads up to make
room for what is coming and to see where designers are headed for
next year (fashionestias in all gene&rsquos are noted for their
ears and eyes, literally the best designers are always in touch
with the world around them) At the Las Vegas show, as with any
fashion event we saw a strong reflection of economic and political
situations.
With builders, contractors and designers
looking forward to a strong renovation market designers where on
the mark when they focused on home entertainment pieces as many of
us will be looking to intrigate media equipment into our
spaces&hellipyes, televisions in the bathroom, kitchen, outdoor
spaces, bedrooms, home gym and of course theater rooms are
considered mainstream today. As our old televisions sets make room
at home for digital conversion to high definition signals all of us
will be focused this fall on our home electronics. Furniture
manufactures are in tune with our needs and supplied a fabulous
crop of entertainment/TV solutions, look for creative and very
atheistically pleasing pieces, designed for every style of home to
begin showing up in stores late fall, early winter for your TV
rooms. The new TV&rsquos are so sexy that we will want to show
them off on fabulous consoles and display units. Can you believe I
just said that after years of trying to hide the TV?
The other noteable trend that was
prevalent at this show was the return of gold. For years now silver
and her chromed, polished, stainless and pewter court have reigned
in our homes but she is now being dethroned by gilded
gold&rsquos. The new gold&rsquos (don&rsquot think
brass&hellipthis is absolutely NOT where we are going) are most
often distressed and contain layers of golden shades. Speaking of
distressed, we love this finish; it is so easy to live with that
designers are supplying us with more upscale looks in the
distressed finishes. High end, luxury pieces that appear
handcrafted&hellip.love the look. The distressed look is also
an eco-look, as we are making an obvious attempt to use less than
perfect pieces of wood. Natural imperfections from green or
reclaimed woods are delivering the distressed feel into the
furniture. Wood finished appeared abundantly in both light and dark
espresso and wenge tones. No clear cut direction was noted here, so
don&rsquot be afraid to mix and match dark and light woods in
the same space. There was also a lot of rustic, western living
pieces available, perhaps this country living makes us feel safe
and secure in uncertain times. Bottom line, there is lots to look
forward to in home fashion. |
