Medicine Hat News
A couple losses in the past week have the Medicine Hat Tigers again looking over their shoulder in the WHL's Eastern Conference.
At 36-20-2-3 the Tigers remain in third place, though now just three points up on the Kootenay Ice who edged Brandon 5-4 in a shootout Tuesday.
They're also just four points up on the 35-22-2-1 Calgary Hitmen, who they'll face at the Saddledome tonight.
Calgary has won three in a row but already lost the season series with Medicine Hat. This will be the final regular season meeting between the teams and the Tigers are 4-1 thus far.
Injuries continue to be a major factor for Medicine Hat this month, with five regulars listed on the WHL's weekly report that was posted Tuesday night. In addition to forwards Kale Kessy and Hunter Shinkaruk and goaltender Tyler Bunz (upper body, day-to-day), two young defencemen are also now going to miss some time. Tyler Lewington (lower body, three weeks) and Spenser Jensen (upper body, one week) aren't likely to be in the lineup at Calgary.
The Hitmen could be without Jaynen Rissling (lower body, day-to-day) and Calder Brooks (upper body, day-to-day).
